Every year we host a Christmas Tree Festival at Cromford Mills.
Local schools, charities and community groups decorate or sponsor a tree to help us prepare the mill for Christmas. Every tree is unique, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the many different people and groups that make up our local community.
This year, trees will be on display both in the Education Room and around the mill yard from Saturday 3rd December until Wednesday 4th January, including during our ever-popular Christmas Market weekends. We will be inviting the public to vote for their favourite tree at these weekends, and will announce the winner in the week before Christmas.
This year we have chosen the optional theme of ‘sustainability’ for the decorations, inspired by last year’s winning tree. With the mill’s history of waterpower, sustainability is close to our heart, and we are delighted that this year our Hydro Power Project will see the return of a working waterwheel and turbine to the site as well as a turbine in the village to generate electricity. To support this project, we would love to see some sustainable, eco-friendly decorations on our trees.
For further information, and to decorate a tree this year, please download the entry form The deadline for entries is Monday 14th November.
As a charity, we need your support to help protect our historic buildings and continue our work with local schools and community groups. We are therefore asking local businesses to consider making a donation to help us cover the costs of the Christmas tree festival. We will celebrate all our supporters on our website and at the festival too. For further information, please download a sponsorship form. Thank you for your support.
Please email completed forms to learning@arkwrightsociety.org.uk, or post them to Lyndsay Hill at Cromford Mills, Mill Lane, Cromford, DE4 3RQ. We look forward to hearing from you!
