A 3.5 mile circular walk that follows the Cromford Canal towpath to High Peak Junction to hear the stories of the fantastic Cromford and High Peak Railway, the Derwent Aqueduct and the Leawood pump house. Continuing along the private Lea canal branch to Smedley’s Mill and then return to Cromford along the early hillside pack horse route which Arkwright would have used to arrive from Nottingham.
What you’ll need:
Suitable clothing and footwear. Parts of the route are on rough surfaced paths and on steep slopes.
Meet at reception in Cromford Mills (DE4 3RQ), pay and display car park available, short walk from railway station and village bus stops.
